Experience Monterey at the Merritt House Hotel, an iconic boutique stay in the heart of it all, just steps from Fisherman's Wharf, Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay. Originally built in 1830, the Merritt House became the private residence of Josiah Merritt and Juana Castro in 1852; in 1979 the residence was converted into the Merritt House Hotel and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The legendary Monterey adobe consists of three suites and twenty-two rooms, nestled among towering magnolia, pepper, holly and olive trees, with a grand old fig, rose garden and tended lawns. Suites are historically furnished with a separate parlor and fireplace; rooms, some with balconies overlooking private secluded gardens, all feature fireplaces, TVs, refrigerators and coffeemakers. A sit-down continental breakfast is served daily and wireless high-speed internet is available in all rooms.

Just as wonderful as our other rooms, our Queen rooms are perfect for your getaway to Monterey. All of our Queen rooms, just as our other standard rooms, have french doors. Having those french doors open on a warm summer day with the sun basking in is one of the most beautiful feelings. On the contrary, our Queen room's are also perfect for having a warm cup of cocoa with a log crackling in the fireplace while watching your favorite holiday movie.
